On the 9th and 10th May a large sunspot group threw out a stream of charged particles that connected with the Earth’s magnetic field and late on a Friday evening the Northern Lights were visible over the UK and even further South. Thanks to social media and an email alert from our Chairman, many members were able to enjoy the sight and take images through mobile phones and cameras.
